The evening of Wednesday 6th March was truly ‘Incredible’ for Transition Rutland, raising over £40 on the night on its launch of the community vegetable growing project, Incredible Edible Oakham.
The project, supported by Oakham In Bloom, aims to use the pots by Rutland Plastics on Cold Overton Road, and other areas, to grow vegetables for the benefit of the community.
Over 30 people attended the launch which included a short recorded talk from Incredible Edible Todmorden founder Pam Warhurst, along with a film screening of Growing Change – an inspiring movie about a food growing revolution in Venezuela.
Incredible Edible Oakham is now all set to go and is looking for volunteers who can donate:
- Their seeds/seedlings
- Their time to help plant & maintain the pots
- Their advice on container vegetable gardening
A date for the first planting working party is to be set very soon. For more information & to volunteer, contact Transition Rutland on 01572 723419 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Watch out Oakham, something Incredible is coming!
